Customer Review :
Sturdy and easy to assemble : Fashion Bed Group Casey Daybed with Trundle, White
As a veteran of too many purchases from a certain Swedish furniture manufacturer, I am an expert on assembling furniture that comes in a box.
The assembly on the Casey daybed was a dream. The directions made sense. All the pieces fit together well. It is super sturdy.
It looks to mostly be a mix of real wood and plywood, with a veneer. I didn't detect a whole lot of particle board (maybe just the underside of the trundle.)
We got the honey maple for my 5-year-old daughter's room. The photos here are a little light, but we had seen it on the manufacturer's website and several other sites as well. Compared to her toddler bed, it is ginormous. But any twin bed compared to a toddler bed is big.
We anticipate the ability to use it elsewhere in the future. The finish isn't flawless, but it's good enough. I anticipate it will get covered with stickers, eventually.
We are using a regular twin mattress -- there is a considerable gap. We're using a full-size comforter and just stuffed the excess into the gap. With a younger child, you may want to opt for the twin xl mattress or wait until he/she is 4 or 5. My 42-inch-tall kid can climb into it easily.
We loved the price. Here on Amazon it was considerably cheaper than the other websites we looked at. An added plus was that we were able to get it through Amazon Prime (this purchase alone made the membership worthwhile).
The FedEx delivery through Amazon Prime was wonderful except for the tracking here on Amazon. Amazon's tracking had it being delivered at least a week later than we got it. FedEx's tracking had it right. It was also unclear that there were three boxes (56, 70 and 78 pounds, respectively).
